God is Counterintuitive

Counterintuitive – dictionary definition: counter to what intuition would lead one to expect – the direction we had to follow was counterintuitive – we had to go north first before we went south.

As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9

There is a way that seems right to man but in the end it leads to death. Proverbs 14:12

Most people misjudge God and that can be a fatal mistake. Some think He does not exist, some think God will be fair and consider our good works sufficient to qualify for heaven. Some see God as an idol or a false god. All of these beliefs are fatal.

We need to see God correctly and that starts with acknowledging that Jesus Christ is God. All who think that another person or being is God are in grave danger. Jesus said I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6).

When Christ was on earth, His own people did not receive Him according to John 1:11. Those who crucified Him thought they were killing a criminal – the ultimate misjudgment. Today, millions are writing off the Bible and Jesus Christ as irrelevant or even evil.

But, these judgments will in the end prove to be disastrous. The Bible says that at the End, the Antichrist will appear and the world will be deceived and will follow him instead of Christ. Man’s wisdom compared to God’s wisdom is bankrupt.

Christ is God and some day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. We need to do that now before it is too late.

God treats us in ways that are not fair, undeserved, unmerited and unreasonable – His ways are counterintuitive. Please watch the video below titled “Counterintuitive” by Pastor Dwight.

Listen to his explanation of why many Christians struggle. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it but if you give up your life you will save it.

The first shall be last and the last shall be first. We are all challenged by God to live counterintuitively.
