God’s Perfect Love

Understanding the love of God is the most important issue in your life. But, the vast majority of people are not seeing Him correctly.

Such misunderstanding could cause eternal damnation. A horrible thought but true from the very warnings of Jesus Christ Himself.

Many think they were going to heaven because a loving God would never send anyone to hell. Others think that I have lived such a good life that a God of love would never say that He never knew me. Yes, God is love and yes God’s love is perfect but that does not mean that He will not judge sin. The love of God sent His Son to the cross to die for our sins so that we could go to heaven and know the perfect love of God forever.

But, the justice of God is equally as perfect as His love. How can they both operate at the same time?

Answer: THE CROSS

Justice and love met at the cross. God so loved the world that He sent His only Son so that whoever would believe in Him would not perish but have eternal life.

We must understand that if God did not love us enough to die for us, we would die in our sins forever separated from Him. We must be perfect to get into heaven so how can we commit sin and still find our way into eternal life? The love of God made a way.

God’s love is not tied to a reason in us that is worthy of His love. We deserve to die and we are actually all enemies of God. God loves us not because of anything we deserve.

God loves us in spite of what we do deserve. In other words, God’s love is not based on performance and not on any reason. God’s love is undeserved, unmerited, unworthy and unconditional. But, we must enter into a covenant with God and receive His love as a GIFT by FAITH not a reward for good behavior.

We are in an impossible situation if we see God’s love based on fairness. It’s not. To seek what is fair is to seek God’s justice.

If you died today, would you stand before God and ask Him to give you what you deserve?

No, we make our appeal based on the GIFT of forgiveness for our sins based on the PERFECT SACRIFICE of Jesus Christ. Believing in the power of the cross takes us from guilty to not guilty.

We are given full and complete pardon because Christ took our punishment as full payment for us. That is perfect love. What happened to Christ was most unfair! But He did it out of love for us so that we would not receive what we deserved.

But God demonstrates His love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
