Many think that God would never do anything to bring punishment to anyone. Some believe in Universalism – that everyone is going to heaven and there is no hell. Others believe in Annihilation – that there is no life after death and therefore no hell. Both of the above beliefs are wrong. God will judge this world and there are consequences for sin but He has perfectly provided for us to be saved from that judgment.
Salvation makes no sense if we are not saved from something! Who needs salvation if there is no judgment for how we lived our lives? The truth is that all mankind is subject to the Judgments of God. All of us have sinned so we are all in the same position with God. We all need to be saved.
The saved are believers in Jesus Christ because He took that judgment and condemnation upon Himself in our place. We are saved by faith in Christ if we believe He died for our sins and accept His forgiveness. It is the love of God that makes this possible.
Greater love has no one one than this: to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13
However, most people miss the mercy of God because they do not believe that Jesus actually died on the cross, was buried, resurrected and ascended into heaven, to prepare a place for us there. Payment for sin must be made. Either we pay it or Christ pays it for us. The decision lies with us. No one will have an excuse. The wrath of God remains on those who reject Christ while those who believe are saved from the wrath of God by the love of God.
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. John 3:36
As you watch the video below, think about how loving God is that He would take our wrath upon Himself.
