Anarchy in America

Anarchy – a state of disorder due to absence or non recognition of authority or other controlling systems.

Reading the Bible is often like reading todays news. The principles of God’s Word transcend time. What was true for Israel in the Old Testament can be applied to today in most cases. This would certainly apply to Israel and the Book of Judges. After Moses and Joshua left the scene, Israel relied on Judges to rule the land. Chapter after chapter reveals a nation that would fall into trouble and need a leader or a judge to come to the rescue. The trouble was caused by the chaos of individual liberty without any control to keep the nation united under God. Sound familiar?

If freedom is demanded with no laws to correct bad behavior, there is license to sin. Everyone is free to do as he or she pleases without any consequences. The result is conflict as individuals crash against one another and inevitably bring harm to one another. Total freedom without control leads to anarchy. We need control to preserve our freedom. We need brakes to limit our ability to drive safely. We need air traffic controllers to keep planes safe. We need an orchestra leader to keep the musicians in harmony.

The question is who will be that leader? That is the #1 question of our day in America. Will we reject the leadership of God in favor or individual desires to run our own lives? If we read that the Bible forbids certain behaviors, will we insist on getting our way and defy God? God provides many examples of what happens to anyone or any nation that rejects Him. That is called prophecy. God predicts the consequences through the lives of those in the Bible who either obeyed or disobeyed. Obedience to God produces unity and harmony if all of us are on God’s page. If we were one nation under God, the blessings would produce peace and joy and love abundantly. We can do that as individuals thankfully. We can follow God no matter how those around us may behave. The real challenge to Christians today is will we stay faithful to God in spite of the massive, ungodly pressures around us? Will we return evil for evil or will we love everyone in our lives as Christ modeled that and commanded that.

Jesus said that we were to love God with all of our heart, mind and soul and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Hatred in not ever ok with God. He hates sin but He does not hate sinners.

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Hatred produces division, chaos and anarchy. Violence can sometimes be justified to support an ideal that is opposed to God. We can go God’s way or our own way. The choice is ours as individuals and as a nation. Our only hope as a nation is not ultimately political, it is spiritual. Christians are called to be salt and light to the world. Unfortunately, many are now tempted to forsake God and endanger the future to anarchy. There are many ideas competing with God that are very powerful. They are controlling decisions that have brought us to a Divided States of America. This is not ok. We need to figure out how to get along and live with one another despite our differences. Those differences are there by God’s grace. No matter what our race may be, our gender may be, our education may be and countless other differences, they are intended to be blended by God not a means of separation. Differences enable us to cooperate and complement and support one another if we live God’s Way.

Our nation was founded on biblical principles. Our Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence are rooted in the God of the Bible. That authority is like glue that keeps us in Western Civilization. We are challenged today just as Israel was challenged centuries ago.

In those days Israel had no king and everyone did as he saw fit. Judges 21:25

The following is an excellent presentation on what happens when we choose “MY WAY”. The message from Pastor Bill Wyand is very important to Christians and non-Christians alike.
