What a strange title….what could possibly be wrong with Christmas? Nothing wrong with the meaning of Christmas as long as Christ is truly in our hearts. But, if Christ is missing, Christmas is a tragedy because the very reason for Christ’s coming is missed. He came to save us from our sins. As a human race, we need to be saved from our sins or we will die and that is the tragic part. All of the glitz and all of the glamour and all of the gifts mean nothing without Christ,
Jesus said that most people are going to miss the purpose of Christmas. Most people are on the broad way to destruction and few find the narrow way. No one can get to heaven without Christ, that is stated by Christ Himself.
I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
Do we see Christ as a matter of life or death this Christmas? God sent Him out of love for us so that we would not perish! John 3:16
The tragedy of Christmas is that the invisible salvation GIFT can be hidden behind all the visible gifts (Alistair Begg refers to it as “stuff” in the video below.)
Jesus is not a fictitious invention like Santa Claus or an imaginary superhero. He is God. He came on Christmas in the flesh. The Incarnation. Our very calendar is based on his birth. He is REAL!
What a tragedy if we miss Christ! Think about it and make sure you have made a decision to surrender your life to Him that you may be saved.
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. John 3:36.
Christmas is a tragedy if we miss the GIFT of eternal life. It is ours to receive only as a gift by believing that Jesus actually did come at Christmas that He might die for our sins and save us from disaster.
Alistair Begg ends the video with these words: “Anyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him has eternal life and you can count on him.” We can turn tragedy to triumph! The choice is ours. Let us not miss the GIFT!
