Anti-Semitism

“Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”

Hate crimes and anti-semitism continue to rise, according to the anti-defamation league. God is not against any people. He does not show favoritism. He does not discriminate or show partiality. He loves all of us the same. In fact, He loves us so much that He died for us to demonstrate that love even when we did not deserve it. His love is perfect and He desires that we love everyone the same way He loves.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matthew 5:43-48

We are called by God to overcome evil with good. Forgiveness is required in all of our relationships. After all, don’t we desire that God forgive us for everything we do wrong? The love of God is pure. The cross was His gift to us to receive full mercy and pardon. Forgiveness and love are undeserved, unmerited gifts to be given to every person. There is no room for hatred or unforgiveness. If we all followed God’s will, peace would prevail among all of us! That is a picture of heaven for sure. But, we can bring heaven to earth by obeying God and loving even the unlovable. Unity is only possible if the love of God prevails. Division is produced by partiality, pride and selfishness. We have a choice as nations and as individuals to make the Our Father prayer a reality.

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
