Baptism in Christianity typically symbolizes a symbolic “death” to one’s old life and a “resurrection” into a new life in Christ. It’s often seen as a public declaration of faith and a commitment to follow Jesus, often involving immersion in water.
The definition above seems simple and yet there are so many different understandings within Christianity that it often generates a lack of true clarity. What is the importance of baptism?
