God is kind. He does not treat us according to what we deserve. Every single one of us deserves judgment for our sins. But God out of the kindness of His heart does not give us what we deserve, he gives us undeserved, unmerited, unconditional love. In other words, we are the objects of God’s grace and mercy with each new day. We are going to see our relationship with God based on what we think we have earned or deserved if we think His kindness is tied to our performance. Martin Luther thought this way until he came to finally understand that God’s acceptance was a gift to be received by faith not a reward to be achieved by religious behavior. We will see that in the video below. The kindness of God is so overwhelmingly generous that it is easy to miss. We might think that heaven is too easy or God cannot really be that kind and forgiving. Truth is that God’s kindness is infinite. We cannot grasp the immensity of His love. He came into this world to save us from our sins and deliver us from death by taking upon Himself the sins of the entire world including yours and mine. God demonstrates His love for us in this that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. We never ever reached a position to deserve God’s kindness, it is to be received humbly by faith every day as believers. For those who are currently not trusting in Christ, Romans 2:4 gives us great hope.
Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?
Are you thinking about life after death? Do you see yourself in heaven? We in ourselves fall so short of the righteousness that heaven is an impossibility. This truth struck Martin Luther so deeply that he posted his 95 theses on the door of a church in Germany on October 31, 1517. Of course, October 31 is Halloween in the world but it marks Reformation Day and the celebration of God’s kindness to many who appreciate what Luther discovered. Do you see yourself completely forgiven under the perfect kindness and love of God today? Christ is God’s gift of kindness sent by God the Father to save us all forever from all our sins, past, present and future.
Please watch this video to understand the Reformation and God’s plan for your life. Pastor Lutzer is addressing all of us -Catholic and Protestant and all the rest of mankind to consider what Christ has done for us. Even the slightest sin will keep a person from heaven but through Christ’s kindness we can know that we are “Forgiven Forever”.
