The Message

Word of Men or Word of God?

Here we are between Christmas and New Years Day. Most of us have time to reflect and think about the future new year.

What are we seeking to accomplish? What is our purpose and how can we make that a reality next year?

If we listen to men they will tell us to live life on our own terms. As the famous Frank Sinatra song goes “I Did It My Way.” Is that our ambition? Do we think that we are here to please ourselves first and then others?

What a contrast that is to God’s Way. He tells us to die to self and live to please Him. He considers others more important than Himself. He lays down His life so that we might have life more abundantly and commands us to do the same in humility.

Who are we listening to as our guideline for the future? If we are listening to men, it will be what the vast majority are doing. If it is listening to God, it will be through Jesus Christ and through the Holy Spirit. Both lead us into the Truth of the Bible. Christians very simply follow Christ above all men.

Make God’s Word the rule of authority in 2023 and it will be the best decision we could possibly make. “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” We are here to serve not to be served. We are here to give not to get. We are here to love everyone in our life unconditionally – Matthew 5:43-48.

Start every day in God’s Word and ask Him to lead you into each day in His wisdom. Here are 14 plans to choose from!

Have you forgiven everyone in your life as you enter the new year? “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”

“And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.”
