The Fall of the Human Race

September 21 marked the first day of Fall. All the beauty of Spring and Summer disappear in a colorful transition. Halloween is only a few weeks away, it marks the opposite direction – into the reality of darkness and an oncoming winter. Life must change, that is the reminder every year as we witness this seasonal turnaround.

In our own personal lives, we have seasons too. There is a time for everything according to the Book of Ecclesiastes. It is a time for war, a time for peace, a time to plant and a time to uproot. This season is all part of God’s plan.

• a time to be born and a time to die,
• a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal,
• a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh,
• a time to mourn and a time to dance,  a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
• a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up,
• a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend,
• a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate,
• a time for war and a time for peace.

There was a time when the human race was free of sin, no imperfection, no sin. Then the human race had a Fall and the rest is our history. You cannot have a time to rise if there is no time first to fall. Resurrection follows death. Heaven follows the Fall. They are connected. But, what if there is no Fall? How can anyone be lifted up if they don’t first admit that they fell? How can sin be forgiven if it is not first confessed? What time is it in your life, what may be your season of life? Whatever it might be, God wants to encourage you through it! Jesus Christ came to save us and lift us through it all. His final destination for us is the heights of heaven where there will be no more tears, no more sorrow, no more pain, no more Fall!
