God’s Destination for Your Life

Did you know that we don’t belong here? The Bible says that we are aliens and strangers to this world (1 Peter 2:11). We belong in heaven.

This world is simply a means to an end. This world is finite, we belong in an infinite world. This world is passing away but the next world is eternal.

Our current bodies will perish but our new bodies will be imperishable (1 Corinthians 15:42). This world is imperfect but God’s world is perfect.

God desires to prepare us for the transition from death to life.

When Israel was saved from Egypt and delivered from the oppression of Pharaoh, God gave them a destination. They didn’t belong in Egypt. They belonged in the Promised Land. All of that is in God’s Word to help us understand that this world is a desert and it is not our final destination. We are pilgrims on our way to a better land. During the time in the desert, the Holy Spirit was the divine GPS who led Moses and His people for 40 years. A cloud moved them by day and fire in a cloud moved them by night. We are called by God to be led by the Holy Spirit as we obey God’s Word.

Our life here on earth is far below what God intends for us. Eye has not seen nor has ear heard how wonderful the Final Destination will be (1 Corinthians 2:9).

All who were commended in Hebrews 11:13-16 stated that this world was not worthy of their faith; only heaven mattered.

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had the opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

However, many think Egypt is great and this world is all there is; they will miss God’s plan of salvation for their lives.

We are warned in 1 John 1:15 not to love this world or anything in this world. That thinking makes the world a false god. Many worship this earth as all that there is. They exalt creation and deny the Creator.

They can be deceived into thinking that when they die, they will perish, that there is no God and there is no heaven. Dangerous thinking!

We need Christ to get us from this world to the next. We start with being born again. Jesus said unless a man is born again, he cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven (John 3:3).

Being born again starts with the forgiveness of our sins. No one can enter heaven with sin so it must be completely removed to make us fit for eternity.

All of our sins (past, present and future) were paid for by trusting in Christ’s perfect sacrifice on the cross as payment for our sins. The blood was applied to the doors of the Hebrew homes so that the angel of death would passover.

When we apply the Blood of Christ to our hearts by faith, we are set free from death and born again into eternal life. The Holy Spirit comes into our hearts when we are saved and remains with us throughout our life here on earth until we die.

Then the same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead will raise us into our forever home – God’s Destination for Your Life.

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. Romans 8:11
