Halloween is a complicated holiday. Wikipedia offers an excellent explanation for the many different reasons for Halloween and how it is celebrated. One thing is for sure. Halloween is a day that we can all celebrate by giving one another the liberty to do whatever we think is best. Some really enjoy the decorations and costumes and candy. Others think that Halloween is not ok and plan to leave the lights out or be somewhere else. Either way, let’s make it a day to go out of our way to give God thanks for the gift of life and yes life after death.
Seen from God’s point of view, the death part of Halloween should only serve as a reminder that death is not the end. Yes, the season is changing and the transition of death is remembered in the Catholic church on All Saints Day and All Souls Day. The inevitability of death comes through the skeletons, witches and goblins – scarier the better for many. But, what about death? It’s real and it is a universal problem to be solved.
Many don’t want to think about death but that does not solve the problem. You have a very special opportunity as you read this to consider a very positive thought. God has promised to save us all from death through faith in Jesus Christ. This fact is beautifully taught by Dr. David Jeremiah, a beloved pastor who gives great hope in the video below. Please allow the Truth to set you free to see the plan of God for your life. This Halloween may be a most blessed surprise!
