The Wrath of God

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.  Romans 1:18-20

This verse is just one of countless others that warn humanity about the wrath of God. God’s wrath is the punishment that He promises to deliver if SIN is not removed. God hates sin and His judgment of that sin is His just wrath.

He will not tolerate any sin whatsoever therefore no one is going to heaven with sin. It must be removed otherwise a penalty must be paid. God’s justice and holiness demand perfection. Sin is imperfection and it will eventually end in death.

This is a serious problem that we must resolve. All humanity is guilty of sin. The Bible says that if we excuse sin and pretend that we are not sinners, we make God out to be a liar. we suppress the truth.

All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and the wages of sin is death. The Bible says that all who are in sin will suffer a second death due to the reality of hell.

We would like to avoid such terrifying topics. Sin, hell and death are not popular conversation. However, love requires truth to be told first before a solution can be received. Truth does not hide, ignore or excuse sin. Truth reveals sin in order that sin may be removed.

If we go to our doctor and we have a life threatening disease, he or she does us no favors to pretend that all is well. If the x-ray reveals a problem, the deviation must be addressed. Action is required!

Know this for certain, sin is a killer and it will not stop until it destroys life. We all have a sin problem. No one is perfect, all fall short. So how do we escape the second death?

Christ took the sin penalty and died in our place. This is the TRUTH that sets us free. God judged our sin against Christ and poured out His wrath upon Jesus so that we could be set free from the wrath of God.

God took upon Himself the wrath that we deserved. Through the removal of that sin, we are no longer guilty in God’s eyes IF we place our faith in Christ as our Savior from sin.

Christ put death to death by His death so that we will never die! This is the Truth that God has revealed in Christ, the Savior of the world from the wrath of God.

Just as the lambs were sacrificed for sins throughout the Old Testament, Christ came to be the sacrificial Lamb of the New Testament. Christ of course rose on the third day to a resurrected glorified body.

All who believe in Him are promised the same resurrection since we are now fit for heaven and inhabited by the same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus.

Is there anything more important than conquering death and receiving the gift of eternal life?

At the cross, Justice and Mercy met. Sins were paid in full by Jesus to satisfy the wrath of God on our behalf. Mercy was granted as a gift to all who would confess their sins and receive full pardon forever.

What a decision! Life or Death? We are given free will by God to choose.

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. John 3:36

The Gospel means “Good News” because God has sent a Savior to save us from death. What peace can be ours if we place our faith in Christ to be our Substitute!
