When we sin, we can often feel quite negative. Guilt, shame, fear and depression are just a few of the by-products of the
failures in our lives. Can we break God’s laws and find enough mercy to wash away our transgressions?
The answer to these questions is YES. It would seem too good to be true. How could I know that no matter what I think, say or do, God has my back?
Some people would say that this kind of forgiveness is just not realistic, too generous. But, we all fall short, we all are very imperfect and we need forgiveness moment by moment just like the air we breathe. If forgiveness is not forever, we are all doomed. What is required of us to escape all of the consequences of sin and find this kind of forgiveness. The following verses may encourage you to see that God is, in fact, perfect in His love toward us no matter what our performance may be.
God is love and He loves us unconditionally. What conditions can separate us from His love? What sin can condemn us?
We can be united to God in such a way that we can know every moment of every day from now until we die, God will never leave us or forsake us, never change His mind toward us.
Love keeps no record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13:5
I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remember your sins no more. Isaiah 43:25
But where sin increased, grace increased all the more. Romans 5:20
When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the written code with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Colossians 2:13-15
The Gospel is Good News not Bad News. Religion is bad news if it places the burden of the law upon us to find God’s acceptance.
